Knit! Quilt! Craft! Meet up with local crafters for lively discussion and guided instructions!
This crocheting/ knitting workshop is meant for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced to expert. A workshop, yes, but also a roundtable discussion on DC’s social justice issues. With a focus on the power of art to create change- The Craftism Circle.
Join the resident, “Crochet Kingpin” (also known as Dwayne Lawson-Brown) for a meet-up of like mind and crafty hands. Participants will engage in fiber-crafts including crochet, knitting, and needlepoint. All while listening to podcasts regarding social justice issues.
Come on out for lively discussions centering around the city’s social justice issues and the power of art to create change.
This event is totally gender-inclusive; all small-scale handcrafters are welcome, including non-fiber crafts. Experienced crafters are encouraged and are recommended to bring their own craft supplies. As for beginner crafters, limited supplies and some instructions will be provided.
Registration is required. Sessions are limited to 50 participants.
The Craftism Circle meets every first Sunday of the month from 2 pm to 5 pm. At the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum, 1901 Fort Pl, SE, Washington, DC 20020.
